Speed skating is a sport involving skating around an ice rink. The rink is 400 meters around, and two competitors race at once. There are two lanes around the “track” and players switch between the two lanes on each lap. The competitor with the faster time wins the race.

Heiden is the only athlete in the history of speed skating to have won all five events in a single Olympic tournament and the only one to have won a gold medal in all events. He is considered by some to be the best overall speed skater (short and long distances) in the sport's history.

Ohno later retired from speed skating in 2010 and three years later, host of the popular TV show, Minute to Win It. However, on The Wall, Ohno made his first appearance on reality TV with his fiancée, Bianca Stam.

Apolo Anton Ohno, (born May 22, 1982, Seattle, Washington, U.S.), American short-track speed skater who was the most-decorated American athlete in the history of the Winter Olympics. In three Games (2002, 2006, and 2010) he accumulated a total of eight medals—two gold, two silver, and four bronze.

Long track speed skating enjoys large popularity in the Netherlands, and has also had champion athletes from Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Japan, Italy, Norway, South Korea, Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and the United States.
